San Juan hopes to fully vaccinate its 85,400 target population against COVID-19 by end-August

The city government of San Juan expressed optimism on Monday, June 28, that it would be able to administer at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose to 100% of its target population by mid-July.

In a statement, Mayor Francis Zamora said that, as of June 25, 63,950 individuals out of its 85,400 target population already received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.

Of this number, over 18,000 individuals or 21% of the city’s target population already got their second and were therefore fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“We are targeting to reach 100% by middle of July. We are targeting to vaccinate 100% of the target population with two doses by end of August,” Zamora said.

Based on the data released by 10 local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila from June 25 to 28, San Juan leads in terms of percentage of target population vaccinated against COVID-19.

Zamora added that the city government is looking forward to increasing its daily vaccination capacity to around 4,000 to 5,000 once it opens its third vaccination site at the V-Mall, Greenhills Shopping Center.

San Juan, along with many LGUs in Metro Manila, began its COVID-19 immunization drive in early March.
