Cebu City residents stranded in other places across the country due to community quarantines may ride home for free starting this month.

The Cebu City Government partnered with the following shipping lines to get residents home:

  • Medallion Shipping Lines
  • TransAsia Shipping Lines
  • Cokaliong Shipping Lines
  • Lite Shipping Lines
  • 2Go Travel

Stranded Cebu City residents can apply for a free ticket upon showing their travel authority and a valid ID indicating a Cebu City address.

Cebu City only began receiving stranded residents at the beginning of August, when restrictions eased over the city. 

According to Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, in the first week of August, the city only received 600 stranded Cebuanos, but more are expected to arrive before the end of the month. 

TransAsia Shipping said in a statement it was providing free trips through the following routes until August 30.

  • Cagayan de Oro to Cebu City
  • Ozamiz to Cebu City
  • Iligan to Cebu City
  • Iloilo to Cebu City
  • Surigao to Cebu City
