A shootout occurred outside the Ever Gotesco mall along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, mall management confirmed on Wednesday night, February 24.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) first reported the “shooting incident” past 6 pm Wednesday, announcing a “temporary full stop” of traffic along the eastbound lane in the area.
Personnel from both the MMDA and the Philippine National Police (PNP) were “on site,” said the MMDA’s tweet.
In a statement past 7 pm, the Ever Commonwealth management said it had “secured all access to the mall so all shoppers are safe inside.”
“Our priority right now is to ensure the safety of the employees and the public. The management is closely coordinating with the PNP of the current situation,” the statement read.
According to an ABS-CBN report, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were also in the area. – Rappler.com
