On top of 12, PSBank to disclose 2 more Corona accounts

MANILA, Philippines – On top of the 12 already disclosed peso and dollar accounts of Chief Justice Renato Corona, PSBank President Pascual Garcia III said Corona has 2 more accounts whose details he has yet to reveal.

Garcia divulged this before the Senate impeachment court on Thursday, February 16. But he was unable bring the bank records.

“There are 2 other accounts but I really have no details as of the moment, I can only remember that one is a…. I will probably disclose it formally later. Then the other one is a current account,” Garcia told the Court.

Garcia made the statement on Thursday after he identified 2 more peso time-deposit accounts on top of the 5 peso time-deposit accounts that were divulged last week. The first 5 peso accounts were divulged based on the prosecution panel’s request to subpoena Corona’s bank records.

Garcia confirmed that the 5 dollar accounts listed in the prosecution panel’s request for subpoena are existing. Before the Senate could force Garcia to divulge them, the Supreme Court granted the bank’s request for TRO.

Other Corona accounts

The other accounts disclosed on Thursday were based on a second subpoena issued by the Senate Court for PSBank to submit records of all of Corona’s accounts. The second subpoena was based on the request of Senator-judge Sergio Osmeña III.

Garcia also disclosed on Thursday that Corona closed 3 of these 7 accounts on Dec 12, 2011—the same day he was impeached by the House of Representatives.

Two of the 3 accounts closed on December 12 are among the first 5 peso time-deposit accounts divulged last week. Account numbers 089121021681 and 089121019593 had balances of P7,148,238.83 and P12,580,316.56, respectively.

The third account he closed on December 12 is one of the two new accounts disclosed on Thursday. Account number was 089121023848 opened on June 29, 2011 with an opening balance of P17-M.
