Prosecution continues cross examination of Atienza

MANILA, Philippines – Prosecution points out that there should have been a separate ordinance for general budget and expropriation.

Presiding officer Juan Ponce Enrile reacts to prosecution’s line of questioning. He asks what is the relevance? If he committed infractions as city mayor, that is not our issue.

Senator Francis Pangilinan agrees with Enrile, says he is more interested in BGEI than LGU. Prosecution proceeds with cross-examinations and asks Atienza: Did it not occur to you to ask for a more recent authorization of Mrs. Corona from BGEI?

Prosecution says certification authorizing Mrs. Corona to act on behalf of BGEI was dated June 1987.

Atienza confirms that there is nothing in the document that authorizes Mrs. Cristina Corona to receive the payment in behalf of BGEI. Atienza says he does not have knowledge of family feud of Basas when Manila property was sold.

Enrile asks why check was named under Cristina Corona. Atienza says it was for security of the transaction, it  was paid to Mrs. Corona in trust for BGEI. – Rappler.com
