MANILA, Philippines – It’s going to be a rainy Wednesday for Palawan, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao on August 19, said the country’s weather monitoring bureau.

These areas can expect light to moderate rains and cloudy skies on that day, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its Tuesday evening bulletin.

The regions in Mindanao to experience such rains are Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.

The dreary weather is due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat currently affecting these areas. The monsoon will also bring moderate to strong winds to Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday. This means sea waters here will be moderate to rough.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, can expect only isolated thunderstorms. Winds here will be light to moderate leading to calmer ocean waters.

Typhoon Ineng (international name Goni) is not yet affecting any part of the country, added PAGASA. Its rains and winds will be felt before the weekend. – Rappler.com
