TS Lando continues to weaken; 8 areas under storm signals
MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm Lando (international name Koppu) continues to weaken as it moves towards Calayan and Babuyan group of islands, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 pm bulletin, the weather agency said the storm was located 95 km northwest of Calayan, Cagayan, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 80 km/h.
The storm has slightly sped up, moving northeast at 6 km/h.
By Wednesday evening, it is expected to be located 10 km southwest of Basco, Batanes. Lando is expected to be out of the Philippine area of responsibility by Sunday, October 25.
Storm warning signals are still in effect over 8 areas.
Signal number 2 is up over the following areas:
- Northern Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands
Signal number 1 is up over the following areas:
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- Rest of Cagayan
