MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm “Marce” weakened but changed its trajectory and storm signals were raised again over Bataan and Zambales, weather bureau PAGASA said on Thursday, October 4.

In its 5 pm tropical cyclone warning, PAGASA noted that as of 4 pm Marce was located 200 km West of Iba, Zambales (14.9°N, 118.0°E), with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts of up to 90 kph.

The tropical storm is moving slowly West and by Friday afternoon will be 370 km West of Iba.

After its slight change of trajectory, Marce will not exit the Philippine Area of Responsibilty (PAR) until Saturday afternoon, 24 hours later than expected.

This also prompted PAGASA to raise public storm signal warning #1 (30-60 km/h winds) over Bataan and Zambales which had been lifted the night before.

Fishing boats and other small vessels are still advised to not venture out to sea along the western seaboard of Luzon due to big waves generated by Marce.

The estimated rainfall within the 400 km diameter of the tropical storm is 10-25 mm per hour (heavy-intense). – Rappler.com
