MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm “Marce” maintained its strength as it continues moving slowly away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), weather bureau PAGASA said on Thursday, October 5.

In its 11 pm tropical cyclone warning, PAGASA noted that as of 10 pm Marce was located 240 km West of Subic, Zambales (14.7°N, 117.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h.

The tropical storm is moving slowly West and by Friday evening will be 400 km West of Subic, before it is expected to exit the PAR on Saturday night.

Public storm signal warnings #1 (30-60 km/h winds) are still in place for Bataan and Zambales, where residents have been alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fishing boats and other small vessels are advised not to venture out into the western seaboard of Luzon and Visayas due to big waves generated by the tropical storm. – Rappler.com
