PAGASA: Low pressure area over West PH Sea

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A low pressure area (LPA) is now over the West Philippine Sea.

In an advisory issued 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 23, state weather bureau PAGASA said the LPA is 460 kilometers west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. It is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting the Visayas and Mindanao.

On Friday, June 24, light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as Palawan.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. 

Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate as light to moderate winds blow from the southwest to southeast over Luzon and the Visayas, and from the southwest over Mindanao.
