MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Butchoy again intensified further early Wednesday morning, July 6, and maintained its speed and direction.

As of 4 am, Butchoy was 1,010 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, still moving northwest at 30 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The typhoon strengthened anew and now has maximum winds of 185 km/h and gustiness of up to 220 km/h.

Butchoy will not make landfall in the Philippines, but it is enhancing the southwest monsoon, which is affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas.
