Tropical storm Ferdie to enter PAR
MANILA, Philippines – A severe tropical storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) on Sunday, September 11.
The storm with the international name "Meranti" will be called "Ferdie" once it enters the PAR, the PAGASA said in its latest bulletin.
As of 10 am, Meranti/Ferdie was located 1,410 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, just outside the PAR.
Ferdie has a maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometer per hour near the center and a gustiness reaching 135 kilometer per hour.
It will be 955 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora on Monday morning, September 12, and is forecast to pass near Batanes in the coming days. It is expected to exit PAR on Friday, September 16.
