MANILA, Philippines – The southwest monsoon will continue to bring more rain to Luzon and Western Visayas on Thursday, September 29.

In its bulletin issued 5 pm on Wednesday, September 28, state weather bureau PAGASA said moderate to heavy rain is expected in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro.

There will also be light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms in the rest of Luzon, plus in Western Visayas.

The rest of the country will have just isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA is also monitoring Tropical Storm Chaba, which is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 4 pm on Wednesday, it was 2,550 kilometers east of Luzon, moving west at 22 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The state weather bureau told Rappler that Chaba is expected to enter PAR on Saturday, October 1. It will be given the local name Igme.

The tropical storm will not make landfall, but it will enhance the southwest monsoon next week. – Rappler.com
