Tropical Storm Julian leaves PAR; monsoon rain on Friday

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Julian (Aere) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon, October 6.

In its bulletin issued 5 pm on Thursday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Julian is already 375 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, still moving west at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h).

It weakened further as it exited and now has maximum winds of up to 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 100 km/h.

While Julian is already outside PAR, PAGASA still warned small seacraft not to venture out into the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is affecting Luzon and the Visayas.

On Friday, October 7, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos, Cordillera, Mimaropa, Bicol, and Western Visayas, as well as the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Quezon.

The rest of the country will have just isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Coastal waters in Luzon will also be moderate to rough. – Rappler.com
