MANILA, Philippines – Expect weather to improve in the country as Tropical Storm Jolina (Pakhar) already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
In a bulletin issued past 7 pm on Saturday, August 26, state weather bureau PAGASA said Jolina is located 330 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, already outside PAR.
It continues to move northwest at 24 kilometers per hour (km/h), toward China.
The tropical storm maintained its strength as it left PAR, with maximum winds of 80 km/h and gustiness of up to 95 km/h.
Jolina had made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora on Friday evening, August 25. After hitting land, it then crossed Northern Luzon. No casualties have been reported.
Meanwhile, there will still be light to heavy thunderstorms in Metro Manila and Ilocos, as well as the provinces of Zambales and Bataan, for Saturday evening. These are still due to the southwest monsoon.
On Sunday, August 27, there will only be isolated rainshowers.
PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio earlier said a low pressure area (LPA) might form in the country next week. – Rappler.com
