MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Odette poses a threat to the province of Cagayan, where it is expected to make landfall on Thursday evening, October 12.
In a bulletin issued 5 pm on Thursday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Odette is already 285 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, still moving west at a fast 30 kilometers per hour (km/h).
The tropical depression still has maximum winds of 55 km/h and gustiness of up to 65 km/h.
PAGASA warned that Odette could intensify into a tropical storm before making landfall in Cagayan, though there’s only a slim chance that it will do so. (READ: FAST FACTS: Tropical cyclones, rainfall advisories)
