MANILA, Philippines – The trough, or extension, of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippines will bring rain in Mindanao on Wednesday, April 3, the state weather bureau said.

In its weather forecast effective until 5 pm on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA forecaster Joey Figuracion told Rappler, however, that the trough of the LPA has a slim chance of becoming an actual storm.

Nakikita namin papasok siya pero magdi-dissipate din siya. Hindi siya magiging bagyo,” Figuracion said. (We can see it will enter the Philippines but it will eventually dissipate. It wouldn’t become a storm.)

PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon and evening.

Figuracion said on Wednesday, the temperature in Metro Manila is estimated at 26 to 33 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, April 2, Metro Manila experienced heat at 32.8 degrees Celsius at around 1:50 pm. In the National Capital Region, the hottest temperature this month was estimated at 34.9 degrees Celsius on March 30, according to Figuracion. – Rappler.com
