LPA, ITCZ bringing rain to Bicol, Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – A low pressure area east of Surigao del Sur and an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rainy weather to Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao Friday, June 7, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The low pressure area has been spotted around 440 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (9.5ºN, 130.5ºE) as of 4 pm Thursday, and is embedded along the ITCZ.

The two systems will bring affect the said regions, the bureau said in its 24-hour public forecast released Thursday, June 6.

Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rain and thunderstorms will be experienced in the entire Mindanao region and in Eastern Visayas. Residents in these areas are cautioned against landslides and flashfloods.

Bicol and the rest of the Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain, while the rest of the archipelago will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain, particularly in the afternoon or evening.

Prevailing winds will come mainly form the east.
