Typhoon Soulik enters PH area of responsibility
MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon Soulik has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Wednesday noon, July 10.
State weather bureau PAGASA said Soulik was spotted 1,240 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes as of 10 am Wednesday.
The typhoon has been given the PAGASA codename Huaning.
The typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near its center, and gusts of up to 210 km/h.
It is moving at a speed of 20 km/h, and is moving in a west northwest direction. By Thursday morning, it will be 820 km east of Itbayat.
Huaning is not expected to head towards any Philippine landmass so far, and is expected to head towards the general area of Taiwan and east China. PAGASA forecasts the typhoon will be in the vicinity of nothern Taiwan by Saturday morning.
No public storm warning signals has been raised in any part of the country.
It is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rain over the country's west coast.
