Nando: Signal #2 over Batanes

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm Nando (Kong-rey) continues to threaten extreme northern Luzon Tuesday, with storm warning signals still hoisted over 4 provinces.
Nando was spotted 230 km east of Aparri, Cagayan (19.2°N, 123.9°E) as of noon Tuesday, carrying maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
Storm warning signal #2 is in effect over Batanes, while signal #1 is in effect over Cagayan, Apayao, and Isabela.
The tropical storm is forecast to move north northwest at a speed of 15 km/h, and is expected to be 100 km north of Basco, Batanes by Wednesday morning.
It is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday morning.
Heavy to intense (10-25 mm/h) rainfall is expected within Nando's 400 km diameter, the bureau said.
Aside from the affected areas, moderate to heavy rain will be felt over the Ilocos provinces, and will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rain over the rest of Luzon.
