MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Cagayan is now under storm signal number 1, as Odette (international codename Usagi) intensifies into a tropical storm Tuesday morning, September 17.

Odette was spotted 820 kilometers east of Tuguegarao (17.6°N, 130.5°E) as of 10 am Tuesday, carrying maximum winds of up to 65 km/h and gusts of 80 km/h.

The province of Cagayan is now under storm signal number 1, with winds 30-60 km/h expected within 36 hours, the bureau said in its 11 am bulletin.
