MANILA, Philippines – Parts of Luzon should expect stormy weather Friday, October 11, as tropical storm Santi (international codename Nari) makes its way towards the island’s central and northern areas.

As of 4 pm, Santi was located 490 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, carrying maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 120 km/h.

The storm is moving west at a speed of 15 km/h, state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 24 hour forecast Thursday, October 10.

The area under storm signals – Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Aurora, Quezon, and Isabela – is expected to experience rains with gusty winds, accompanied by moderate to rough seas.

The rest of Bicol will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rain and thunderstorms, which could trigger flash flooding and landslides, the bureau said.

The Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and the Zamboanga peninsula should expect cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rain.

The rest of Mindanao and Palawan is expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain.
