North, central Luzon partly cloudy Monday

MANILA, Philippines – Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast for parts of Luzon Monday, October 21.

The northeast monsoon, or the amihan, will be affecting northern and central Luzon, state weather bureau PAGASA said, bringing cooler evenings and mornings to the region.

Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, Metro Manila, the Ilocos and the Cordilleras will have partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are in the forecast for the rest of the archipelago. Isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are also in the forecast for these areas, particularly in the late afternoon or evening.

Prevailing winds will be coming from the northeast, particularly in Luzon.

There are currently no tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but forecasts show typhoon Francisco could pass within the PAR on its way to Japan.

The typhoon, once it enters the PAR, will be given the name Urduja.
