MANILA, Philippines – Mindanao will have a rainy Tuesday, December 17, as the trough of a low pressure area affects the area, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

As the trough of the LPA affects Mindanao, extreme northern Luzon will experience the effects of the northeast monsoon, PAGASA said in its 24-hour forecast Monday, December 16.

Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Mindanao. Residents of the region are advised to be on alert for possible flash floods and landslides.

Aurora, Quezon, and the Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain. Cagayan Valley, the Ilocos, and the Cordilleras will be cloudy, accompanied by light rains.

The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated rains or thunderstorms.

Prevailing winds will come from the northeast to east. There are currently no tropical cyclones affecting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
