MANILA, Philippines – The country can expect better weather Thursday, January 23, with the dissolution of the low pressure area that had been lingering in the south.

The low pressure area last spotted off Southern Mindanao was declared dissipated Wednesday, January 22, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, up north, the northeast monsoon or the amihan will continue affecting Luzon and Visayas, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain can be expected in Caraga and Eastern Mindanao, while the rest of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain.

Luzon and the rest of the Visayas, on the other hand, can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Prevailing winds will come from primarily from the northeast. There are no tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the bureau added.
