#BasyangPH: Storm makes early landfall
MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Basyang (Kajiki) hit land evening of Friday, January 31.
In its 7pm bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) identified the center of the storm to be in the vicinity of Siargao Island, with sustained winds of 85 k/h and gustiness of up to 100 k/h.
The storm's landfall came early, considering PAGASA's earlier estimate of a landfall around midnight of Saturday, February 1, in Southern Leyte or in the northern tip of Surigao del Norte.
The same 32 areas identified in the previous bulletin remain under storm signal warnings 1 and 2.
PAGASA alerted those living in coastal areas under signal #2 to possible storm surges.
Basyang is expected to be at 166 km northeast of Puerto Princesa City by Saturday afternoon, and 529 km west northwest of the same city or even outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday afternoon. – Rappler.com
