Cool ‘amihan’ returns to north Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – The northeast monsoon will again bring cooler temperatures to northern Luzon on Wednesday, February 5, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Extreme northern Luzon will feel the effects of the monsoon, popularly known as the amihan, bringing cloudy skies with light rain over Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast issued Tuesday, February 4.

The rest of the archipelago, PAGASA said, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated rain.

Prevailing winds will come from the east to southeast over Luzon and Visayas. The rest of the country will feel the prevailing winds come from the east to northeast.

There are currently no tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
