Low-pressure area spotted east of Surigao del Sur

MANILA, Philippines – A low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted 670 kilometers east of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur in Eastern Mindanao by state weather bureau PAGASA at 4pm on Monday, March 10.

A low-pressure area, a region where the atmospheric pressure is lower than in other areas, can develop into a storm.

Cloudy skies will watch over Mindanao on Tuesday, March 11, bringing light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Coastal waters in Eastern Mindanao will be moderate to rough with strong winds from the northeast prevailing. These winds will also affect Luzon and Visayas.

Those in Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon may also have to take cover. Expect cloudy skies bringing light rainshowers.

In Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, the weather is a bit sunnier but partly cloudy skies may still threaten isolated light rains.
