MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Henry (international codename Matmo) has maintained strength as it slowly moves north northwestward, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Henry, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility past 8 am Friday, July 18, has maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km per hour. 

The eye of the tropical storm was estimated at 880 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Henry is expected to move north northwest at 7 km per hour, with an estimated rainfall amount of 7.5-15 mm per hour (moderate to heavy) within its 400 km diameter.

PAGASA said the tropical storm “will not yet affect any part of the country.” 

It is expected to be at 970 km east of Borongan, Eastern Samar by Saturday morning, July 19; at 1000 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte by Sunday morning, July 20; and at 700 km east of Calayan by Monday morning, July 21.
