MANILA, Philippines – Since it entered the Philippine area of responsibility at 7 pm, Saturday, August 2, Typhoon Jose (Halong) has maintained its strength as it moves in a west northwest direction, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.

In a weather bulletin, PAGASA said the eye of the typhoon was located at 1,230 km East of Casiguran, Aurora as of 10:00 pm, Saturday, August 2. 

According to PAGASA, Jose has maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph, moving west northwest at 11 kph.

It is likely to be at 1,030 km east of Casiguran, Aurora by Sunday evening, August 3, and at 910 km east of Tuguegarao City by Monday evening, August 4. It is expected to be at 800 km east of Basco, Batanes by Tuesday evening, August 5.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Jose will not yet affect any part of the country but will bring occasional rain to the following regions:

  • Central Luzon
  • Ilocos Region
  • CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezona)
