Monsoon rains for Ilocos on Thursday

MANILA, Philippines – Monsoon rains will fall over the Ilocos region on Thursday, August 7, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

As of 6 pm Wednesday, August 6, PAGASA said the eye of Typhoon Jose (international name Halong) is already at 890 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 150 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 km per hour. 

Jose will move northward at 15 km per hour.

PAGASA said a southwest monsoon is also affecting Luzon. 

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains, while Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. 

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough as moderate to strong winds blow from the southwest over Luzon and Visayas, and from the south to southwest over Mindanao.
