#OmpongPH expected out of PAR Saturday evening
MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Ompong is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday evening, October 11.
In its 11pm Friday update, October 10, state weather bureau PAGASA said Ompong was moving towards the southern islands of Japan with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 200 kph.
The typhoon's eye was estimated to be at 795 kilometers (km) east northeast of Itbayat in Batanes province as of 10 pm Friday.
PAGASA predicts Ompong will move further north at 13 kph.
Heavy to intense rains are expected within the 600 km diameter of the typhoon.
Rough to very rough sea conditions over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon and over the eastern seaboard of Luzon and Visayas are expected.
