MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm Amang (international name Mekkhala) has weakened into a tropical depression, state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 11 pm bulletin Sunday, January 18.  

As of 10 pm Sunday, the center of Amang was estimated at 90 kilometers (km) northeast of Infanta, Quezon (15.4°N, 122.1°E). 

Packing maximum winds of 55 kph, the tropical depression is forecast to move north northwest at 11 kph.

Winds of 30 kph to 60 kph may be felt in the next 36 hours. 

By Monday evening, Jan. 19, PAGASA expects Amang to be located 65 km east northeast of Tuguegarao City.

By Tuesday evening, Jan. 20, Amang is likely to be located 220 km east southeast of Basco, Batanes.

  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Quirino
  • Aurora
  • Bulacan
