Cloudy Monday over PH; new tropical storm outside PAR

MANILA, Philippines – The entire Philippine archipelago will have cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers on Monday, March 16, as a tropical storm approaches the country.

Tropical storm Bavi is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Sunday, March 15.

It will be given the name Betty when it enters PAR.

As of 4 pm, Bavi was estimated at 2,390 km east of the Bicol Region, with maximum winds of 85 km/h and gusts of up to 100 km/h. It is forecast to move west at 30 km/h.

Meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure area is affecting northern Luzon.

In its 5 pm bulletin, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over Luzon. Winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the rest of the country, with resulting slight to moderate seas.
