MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Egay slowed down and intensified on Saturday afternoon, July 4, as the state weather bureau placed 15 areas under storm warning signals. 

In its 5 pm bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed 6 areas under Signal No. 2.

These areas will experience winds of 61 to 120 km/h within the next 24 hours:

  • Kalinga
  • Apayao
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Northern Aurora
  • Cagayan, including the Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands

PAGASA also placed 9 areas under Signal No. 1. These areas should expect winds of 30 to 60 km/h within the next 36 hours:

  • Rest of Aurora
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Ifugao
  • Benguet
  • Mt Province
  • Ilocos Sur 
  • Abra
  • Ilocos Norte

Egay packs maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center, and gustiness of up to 120 km/h. 

PAGASA located the center of Egay at 160 km northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

It is forecast to move northwest at 9 km/h.

Egay is seen to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday, July 8.
