Monsoon rains persist in parts of Luzon on Sunday

MANILA, Philippines – The southwest monsoon continues to affect Luzon, bringing rains to parts of Luzon on Sunday, June 15.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression spotted at 460 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes, at 4 pm on Saturday is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

According to the 24-hour weather forecast of state weather bureau PAGASA on Saturday, monsoon rains will be experienced in Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, the regions of Ilocos and Cordillera, and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.

Metro Manila, the rest of the Cagayan Valley, as well as Mindoro and Palawan will have occasional rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Luzon will have moderate to strong winds from the southwest on Sunday, while its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Light to moderate winds from the southwest will prevail over Visayas, and from the south to southwest over Mindanao, which will also have slight to moderate seas.
