Cloudy, rainy Christmas day for the Philippines
The diffused tail end of a cold front affects Eastern Visayas, while the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – Better get your sweaters, rain jackets, and umbrellas ready.

The entire Philippines will be having a cloudy and rainy Christmas day, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its December 25 weather forecast, PAGASA said the Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Davao and Northern Mindanao regions can expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.

Rains and flashfloods already dampened the holiday mood on December 24, as certain areas in Laguna were submerged in water.

According to PAGASA, a diffused tail end of a cold front is affecting Eastern Visayas, while the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon.

Cloudy skies and light rains, meanwhile, will loom over the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Ilocos and Central Luzon regions. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will meanwhile see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

No rainfall warnings have been hoisted as of posting. PAGASA had earlier raised rainfall warnings over several provinces on Christmas eve.

A low pressure area, meanwhile, was monitored some 1,540 kilometers east of Mindanao.

The state weather bureau said moderate to strong winds, blowing from the northeast, will prevail over the country resulting in moderate to rough seas. – Rappler.com
