At the onset of the pandemic, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte started addressing the nation in recorded messages aired after the weekly meetings of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
During the weekly address titled “Talk to the People,” the IATF officials report on the country’s situation under the COVID-19 pandemic, and the President announces quarantine classifications. Duterte also takes time to comment on current events and attack critics like Vice President Leni Robredo and opposition lawmakers.
IATF meetings happen every Monday, unless otherwise announced, and Duterte’s address usually airs late at night.
