MANILA, Philippines – Flashfloods have hit parts of Metro Manila Wednesday afternoon, August 8, with weather bureau Pagasa raising the Red Warning signal.
In the past few hours, Pagasa said torrential rainfall was recorded over Quezon City, Manila, and Marikina, amounting to 30-50 millimeters per hour; while heavy to intense rainfall (15-30 mm/h) fell over Pasig, CAMANAVA, Taguig, and Pasay.
The rest of Metro Manila, meanwhile, experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. This translated to 7.5-15 mm/h, the bureau said.
Heavy to intense rainfall, with occasional torrential downpour (more than 30 mm/h) is expected between 4:30 -6:30 pm over the region, due to thunderstorms embedded in the southwest monsoon.
Floods and landslides are a possibility in these areas, and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, the bureau said. – Rappler.com
