11 dead, 4 missing in Central Luzon floods

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – In Central Luzon, 11 persons are reported killed and 4 others missing due to heavy monsoon rains that caused massive flooding in the region, state media Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported Thursday, August 9.

The casualties came from Pampanga (6), Bataan (4), and Zambales (1), based on the report of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).

Of the 11, a total of 7 were victims of drowning. Three were electrocuted and one suffered a heart attack.

According to PNA, the casualties in Pampanga are: 1) Angel Ignacio Ocampo, 6, a resident of Barangay Alauli, in Masantol town; 2)Tracy Nunag Estrella, 11, a resident of Barangay Sto. Tomas, Lubao town; 3) Stephanie Ballon Marquez, 3, a resident of Barangay San Agustin, Candaba town; 4) Darel Flores, 9, a resident of Barangay Apalit, Floridablanca town; 5) Renato Fan, 30, a resident of Marcos Village, Mabalacat City; and 6) Michael Bryan Gatdula, a resident of Barangay Sto Nino, City of San Fernando.

In Bataan, the fatalities are: 1) Marcelino Penaflor of barangay Saguing and 2) Juanita Mangila, 70, both in Dinalupihan town; and 3) Clarita Jungaya of Barangay Bilolo and4)  Danilo Masangkay, 27, of barangay Gen. Lim, both in Orion town.

In Zambales, the lone fatality was identified as Ariem Menes, 19, of Barangay Poblacion, Sta. Cruz town.

Missing residents were identified as: 1) Richard Cabli of Sta. Isabel and 2) Alvin Galang of A. Mabini Extension, both in Dinalupihan, Bataan; 3) Rolando Capistrano and 4) Anthony Ramos, both from Olongapo City.
