Onyok makes landfall over Davao Oriental
(UPDATED) The tropical depression has weakened into a low pressure area after making landfall

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Tropical Depression Onyok has made landfall over Manay, Davao Oriental on Friday night, December 18, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

It has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) after making landfall at 9:30 pm Friday. As of 10 pm, the LPA was located in the vicinity of Caraga/Manay, Davao Oriental.

All public storm warning signals are now lifted, but the LPA is still expected to bring light to moderate to sometimes heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao region

Sea travel is still risky over the seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas, said PAGASA, due to big waves generated by the surge of the northeast monsoon.

Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the provinces of Quezon will still experience moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. – Rappler.com
