MANILA, Philippines – State weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) located 85 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, as well as a tropical storm that is still too far from the country.

In its bulletin issued 5 pm on Sunday, July 3, PAGASA said the LPA is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which is affecting Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected in the Samar provinces and the Bicol Region on Monday, July 4.

Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will also persist in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of the Visayas.

The rest of the country will have isolated rains or thunderstorms.

Coastal waters in the whole archipelago will be moderate at most.
