MANILA, Philippines – The state weather bureau on Saturday afternoon, July 30, placed 12 areas under tropical storm warning signal no. 1 due to Tropical Depression Carina.
This comes as Carina further accelerates and maintains its strength.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed the following areas under signal no.1 as of 2 pm on Saturday:
- Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands
- Ilocos Norte
- Northern Aurora
- Camarines Sur
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
These areas will experience winds of 30 to 60 km/h within the next 36 hours.
Carina packs maximum winds of 55 km/h near the center as of 2 pm on Saturday.
It is forecast to move north northwest at 17 km/h.
PAGASA said the center of Carina is located 260 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes. – Rappler.com
