MANILA, Philippines – Lawin (Haima) was downgraded from a super typhoon into a typhoon before dawn on Thursday, October 20, but state weather bureau PAGASA warned it remains “destructive.”
In its bulletin issued 5 am on Thursday, PAGASA said Lawin slightly weakened as it crossed Apayao. It now has maximum winds of up to 205 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gustiness of up to 285 km/h.
The typhoon is already in the vicinity of Kabugao, Apayao, moving west northwest at 25 km/h.
It had made landfall in Peñablanca, Cagayan at 11 pm on Wednesday, October 19.
