MANILA, Philippines – Severe Tropical Storm Odette (Khanun) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday evening, October 14. Rain, however, is still expected as Odette has not yet moved farther away.

In a bulletin issued 11 pm on Saturday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Odette is 350 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, moving northwest at a faster 15 kilometers per hour (km/h) from the previous 10 km/h.

The severe tropical storm slightly strengthened as it left PAR, and now has maximum winds of 110 km/h and gustiness of up to 140 km/h.

As of 5 pm on Saturday, there were no more areas under tropical cyclone warning signals.

Despite Odette’s exit from PAR, however, PAGASA warned that there would still be light to heavy rain in Metro Manila, Ilocos, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa, as well as the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.

Sea travel also remains risky in the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the western seaboard of Central Luzon, and the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon. (READ: FAST FACTS: Tropical cyclones, rainfall advisories)
