MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Even before Typhoon Ferdie leaves the Philippine Area of Responsibility, Severe Tropical Storm Malakas has already entered PAR.
Malakas was given the local name Gener as it entered PAR midnight on Wednesday, September 14.
As of midnight, it was located 1,175 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, moving west northwest at 20 kilometers per hour (km/h).
Gener has maximum winds of up to 105 km/h and gustiness of up to 135 km/h.
State weather bureau PAGASA said moderate to heavy rain is expected within the severe tropical storm's 200-km diameter. – Rappler.com
