MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Gener (Malakas) is enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will bring rain on Thursday, September 15.
In its bulletin issued 5 pm on Wednesday, September 14, state weather bureau PAGASA said Gener is 1,035 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora. It is moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h).
Gener has maximum winds of up to 130 km/h and gustiness of up to 160 km/h.
The typhoon will not make landfall, but it is pulling in the southwest monsoon.
Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in Luzon and Western Visayas on Thursday.
The rest of the country will have just isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned that coastal waters in Luzon will be moderate to rough, with moderate to strong winds.
Based on its latest forecast track, Gener will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, September 17.
