Typhoon Helen leaves PAR; southwest monsoon brings rain

MANILA, Philippines – State weather bureau PAGASA said early Wednesday, September 28, that Typhoon Helen (Megi) already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Helen exited at 11 pm on Tuesday, September 27. It was already 450 kilometers north northwest of Basco, Batanes by then.

On Tuesday afternoon, the typhoon had made landfall in Taiwan, leaving at least 4 people dead.

In the Philippines, the southwest monsoon is bringing light to moderate rain and thunderstorms to Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas, as well as the provinces of Cagayan, Apayao, and Benguet.

The rainy weather is expected to continue on Wednesday.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have just isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. – Rappler.com
