LPA off Palawan; Cloudy in Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area (LPA) has been spotted in the West Philippine Sea northwest of Palawan Wednesday afternoon, July 3.

The LPA was spotted 210 kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa City (11.5ºN, 117.5ºE), and is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) that is affecting southern Luzon and the Visayas.

Luzon and Visayas will have cloudy skies Thursday, July 4, accompanied by light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast.

Mindanao, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated rain.

Prevailing winds will come from primarily from the east to southeast, and coastal waters will be slight to moderate, the bureau added.

No tropical cyclone is within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the bureau added.
