MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Some parts of Metro Manila might experience flooding due to moderate to heavy rain that has persisted since early afternoon Saturday, August 17.
Moderate to heavy rain has been affecting Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa and Pasay as of 5:10 pm, according to weather bureau Pagasa. It is most likely to continue in the next 3 hours, Pagasa said, warning of “possible flooding in low-lying areas.”
Meanwhile, the yellow rainfall advisory over CAMANAVA, Taguig, and Pasig has been lowered.
Moderate to heavy rain is also affecting Zambales, Bataan, and parts of Pampanga.
The southwest monsoon was enhanced by tropical depression “Maring,” bringing moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over western parts of Luzon.
Maring has accelerated in an east southeast direction, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said in it’s 11 am report.
NDRRMC executive director Undersecretary Eduardo del Rosario urged the public and the local disaster coordinating councils concerned to take appropriate actions.
Pagasa advised residents in affected areas to monitor the weather condition and to wait for the next advisory. – Voltaire Tupaz/Rappler.com
